Swap blood for an oil change.
I got a flyer in the mail from The Blood Connection offering a free oil change for blood donors. One must assume this means oil for your car, not your lawn tractor or bloodstream.
Normally you get a smile, some free snacks and possibly a t-shirt for donating. Bruster's also does a free pint of ice cream from time to time, which was my previous favorite.
I'm not sure if you can bring your 18-wheeler in for an oil change, but I'd imagine the free applies for standard oil and if you want something better it might be a few bucks. Either way, the Blood Connection has never let me down and I've never known them to use gimmicks to get you to donate, so it should be very legit.
The 300M is about 100 miles from needing an oil change, so I'll be there on March 15th. If anyone else wants to try their hand (I mean arm) at donating blood then I'd be glad to meet ya there.
If my accounting is correct, this will be Jimmy C's 27th pint donated. They say a pint of blood can help save up to three lives. Not bad for an hour of your time. Even better when you can get your oil changed while you're doing it.
Leave a comment if you have any questions or want to meet up.
Scooped again. I was thinking to myself this morning they will be able to trade a pint of blood for a pint of gas before long.
Jimmy C, have you talked Evan into donating yet? Or does he still have the fear that his blood will go to someone he wouldn't want to help?
That's Evan's cover story. The real story, as I learned last night, is that he spent his early years in the hospital and needles and blood make him want to vomit.
I hope that is the true story because otherwise he may not have a soul.

Can I just swap a pint of premium 100% organic A+ blood for a few gallons of Supercarburant?
