Dr. Donald E. Wetmore gives 10 tips for managing your time. I think about 7 of them are actually useful. Which brings up another question that is partially addressed in one of my favorite George Carlin rants.
Why did they pick 10? Why not 9 or 11? I'll tell you why--because 10 sounds official. Ten sounds important! Ten is the basis for the decimal system, it's a decade, it's a psychologically satisfying number (the top ten, the ten most wanted, the ten best dressed)...
Uhhh, 10 fingers?
Olivier: "Run an Interruptions Log?" Seriously? I'd love to see it if you could pull it off. There's a bit of an issue with that though... The "interruption log" itself is an interuption. Unless you had a second person monitor your interruptions it seems like a lot of mental overhead.
Bobby: Great reference. Allow me to continue.
"7's the key number here. Think about it man. 7-Eleven. 7 doors. 7, man, that's the number. 7 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know that old children's tale from the sea. It's like you're dreaming about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby. Step into my office."
