I was going to submit this to Digg but I was beat to the punch. All the same, give it vote let's see where it can go.
UPDATE: When I linked to this article it had 5 diggs. Many hours later it is all the way up to 7 diggs. That's the power of the Yeti boys. (and by power I mean no power at all)
I finally got around to checking it out. And since I recently bought a new car, it was interesting. I had a car that got about 33 miles per gallon and updated to the Honda Element which gets roughly 25 (haven't had it long enough to really determine). I looked at some hybrid cars but they were all too expensive. I didn't crunch all the numbers (i.e. gas, monthly payments, etc) but the bottom line was the Honda gets decent gas mileage, it's the car I wanted and I'll deal with gas just like everyone else. The tank in the Element is about 2 gallons more than my old Hyundai so I'm basically putting 6$ of gas more into a car I love driving as opposed to a car I drove. Gas prices are crazy, but they aren't going to determine whether or not I go somewhere. It's life. Delmarva Power (Delaware's main source) have recently raised our rates by over 60%. If my bill was $88 it will now be about $135. Yeah that's outrageous, but I can't live without it, so I will pay it. They have there reasons for the hike, but I won't get into that now. It's not going to make me not use my air conditioner in the summer and it won't make me not use the heater in the winter. Yes, I will be more conscious about leaving lights on and such, but electric, just like gas, are necessities and we will all suck it up and pay.
